A massive fire broke out on Tuesday evening 3 March at the Bastin pallet trade at the Kranenpool industrial site in Brunssum. Fire brigade units assisted from all over South Limburg and Germany.
Also a special fire brigade vehicle, so called Crashtender from the neighboring NATO air base Geilenkirchen assisted. The firemen spent hours trying to prevent the burning piles of pallets from marking the buildings next door. They succeeded. No one was injured.
