Brigadier General Stefan W. Neumann

Brigadier General Stefan W. Neumann is the Commander of the NATO Airborne Early Warning and Control Force E-3A Component in Geilenkirchen, Germany. Prior to this assignment, he was the Branch Head Procurement and In-Service Support at the Federal Ministry of Defense (MoD), Bonn, being responsible for air transport, maritime and special mission aircraft.

General Neumann received his commission in 1987 as a graduate of the German Air Force Academy. He served as an air transport pilot in several special mission and air transport aircraft. This included flight examiner duties as well as numerous supervisory and leadership positions throughout his career.

General Neumann has commanded several units to include the 2nd Air Transport Squadron of the Special Air Mission Wing, Cologne, the Air Transport Wing 63, Hohn, and the Special Air Mission Wing, Cologne. Additionally, he served as Commander of the German Expeditionary Air Wing at Mazar-i-Sharif, Afghanistan.

In addition to his Command assignments, he has held various staff positions to include an assignment as Staff Officer Plans and Policy (Air Transport) at the Air Force Staff at the MoD, Bonn, and as the Adviser Air and Space for the Office of the State Secretary of Procurement at the MoD, Berlin. He also served as Head of the Mission Controlling Branch at the European Air Transport Command, Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

General Neumann is a command pilot with more than 3,900 flying hours primarily in the VFW-614, CL-601, C-160 and Global 5000.
